1865 Festival at the Garfield Park

This past Friday Carol Johnson hosted her 4th annual 1865 Festival at the Garfield Park Music Circuit. The festival kicked off at 12pm for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and ended at 8pm. The Juneteenth celebration was definitely family friendly as there were many activations for the kids to enjoy themselves along with the adults.

Each day had a theme with Friday being an Honor to Black veterans, Saturday being youth day with special performances from Chicago’s very own Shawnna and Crucial Conflict. Sunday was all about the fathers in the Chicago area. Sunday also involved grilling, and what’s a better way to celebrate Father’s Day with BBQ. Mixing Blues and R&B with grilling is a great combination and that’s what Johnson did, The Delfonics and KTP Blues Band performed on Father’s Day, and that added the final touches.
