The wait is… almost… over! Kazu Kibuishi’s groundbreaking graphic novel series Amulet, after five years since the last installment, has finally gotten a confirmed date for the 9th and final novel as confirmed by the publishing company.
I avidly read this graphic novel series in my junior high years and it’s been a symbol of nuanced storytelling and visual art that children and adults can enjoy. It’s a series that’s inspired me to pursue art and writing.
The final book will be called Waverider and will finally conclude the story of the world we first fell in love with in 2008. The release date, as confirmed by Scholastic, will be February 6th, 2024. Just a few months before I graduate high school!
Kibuishi has also confirmed that there will be a box set of the whole series coming (hopefully) shortly after Waverider’s release. I will definitely be buying this!
The book cover from the promotional image seems rather large. Makes sense, since this has been several years in the making, and the author has announced on Twitter before in the past that this will be the biggest book in the series yet. The book seems like a stark contrast from the harsh themes of dark fire and outer space in the previous installments.
Are you guys excited?! Hit me up and let me know.
