Are the Bears Trying To Win?

After taking an L to the Chiefs, the Chicago Bears are now 0-3.

It was a miserable day for the Bears at Arrowhead Stadium, as the Chiefs totally dominated by a score of 41-10. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Isiah Pacheco both had a rushing touchdown, and with Taylor Swift in attendance, Travis Kelce had a receiving touchdown along with 69 receiving yards.

For the Bears, it was yet another miserable day on offense, with QB Justin Fields having his worst statistical day of the season thus far. He threw for a season-low 99 yards, had one touchdown, and threw an interception. This comes after Fields mentioned coaching as one of the reasons to his slow start to the season during a press conference last week. He also ran 11 times for 47 yards, both season-highs. DJ Moore caught three passes for 41 yards and the late touchdown catch, Cole Kmet caught two passes for 22 yards, and Chase Claypool made a single catch, which was a 15 yard reception on the first play of the game.

Chicago’s problems, to me, are multi-faceted. In my opinion, the season to this point has been an organizational failure. From the incompetencies of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, to the mystery surrounding defensive coordinator Alan Williams’ resignation, to Fields’ lackluster play, to Matt Eberflus’ inability to rally his players and put them in a position to win games, and even general manager Ryan Poles for his inefficient drafting and free agency decisions.

To me, the entire organization needs a shakeup. If the Bears lose to the 0-3 Denver Broncos, Eberflus should be relieved of his duties immediately. Ryan Poles should get a chance to have full autonomy over his next head coaching hire, and they may need to entertain pursuing another young quarterback in the draft. But as for this season, you can only take it one week at a time, and all I ask is for the organization to actually try to win, and avoid losing a 14th straight game.
