What is the newest series that has Netflix and social media users in a chokehold? Believe it or not, it’s based on a Korean child’s game. However, the unraveling sinister plot is anything but child’s play. It’s called “Squid Game.”
What is a downfall to powerful men having access to any resources and money on earth? The answer: Abusing their power at the expense of the poor to either excel or entertain their own agendas. Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t seen the series, I’d advise you to stop reading now. But if you have finished the series, I know you were sitting in front of your screen like me thinking … “What. Just. Happened?!”
In an overall consensus of the message behind “Squid Game,” fans are questioning how much is their life worth? And most importantly, how far would you go for elite and rich status? After watching Netflix’s newest and hottest series that’s dominating their top 10 list at the moment, everything you thought you knew about human nature might actually change. We soon find out that these players in this adult-like death game stimulation, built by the rich in need of entertainment, believe that 45 Billion Won is enough to strategize and even fight to the death over. What’s 45 Billion Won to USD you might ask? It’s roughly $38,393,239.20.
Every time I’ve heard someone around me rave or disapprove of the hit show, I always state that “Squid Game” is basically a modern day version of the thriller Saw. That comparison alone should tell you everything about the twists and turns of this Korean series. I love that more series on Netflix are becoming diverse and exposing the talent that we don’t normally get to see in the majority of mainstream films and shows. Not only has this series been successful on Netflix’s platform, but it’s also one of the most talked about shows on various social media platforms right now with numerous meme’s and spoilers.
If you have seen the series, I’d advise you to mute the key words of “Squid Game” on your social media platforms because those who are very late on the bandwagon of the show can’t stop talking about it. Fans are even raging for a season two which has yet to be confirmed or denied.
