Ahnyah Moon is currently using her business major to her advantage. The sophomore at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville officially launched Glam and Go Couture for both men and women this past July. When asked why she started her own line, Moon said, “I wanted more women to be confident. A lot of brands and boutiques are showing women need to look over the top, but I wanted something that can make both men and women look luxurious at a low price.”
Moon, 20, noted that one of the goals of being her own boss is to make wise decisions when it comes to being financially secure. “I wanted to break the generational curse of poverty in my family. I’m really trying to do that by the time I turn 21 and I know I need to get my feet wet in the entrepreneur fields.”
A brick and mortar store is not something that Moon currently has, but that is not stopping her from grinding every day to make it to the top. She is currently in the process of doing a full rebranding to make room for unisex pieces. Once of her major goals is to someday have a store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and in Los Angeles. Other dream store spots include Chicago and Atlanta.
As a young business-minded woman, Moon is relying heavily on herself to keep pushing forward. She calls it pure determination. “It’s determination to prove a point to myself that I can be successful in a short amount of time. The quicker I can get to the top the quicker I can bring others to the top with me.”
