#BBFPodcast Maybe You’re Depressed

Teens Talk Mental Health

In light of Mental Health Awareness month, BBF teens gather to discuss real life events that have occurred in school and at home when it comes to mental illnesses like depression.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, young adults aged 18–25 have the highest prevalence of mental illness (AMI) in the United States, at 33.7%. AMI is also more prevalent among females (27.2%) than males (18.1%).

According to the CDC, in 2021 42% of high school students are persistently sad or hopeless, and 29% experienced poor mental health. To add to that, 22% of students seriously considered attempting suicide, and 10% actually attempted suicide.

The teens question whether their schools or even their parents truly prepared when it comes to their teens dealing with mental health issues.
