Bears VS Rams in Round 2 of the Playoffs

After a monumental comeback win against their rivals, the Green Bay Packers, the Cardiac Bears have made it into the second round of the playoffs. The next opponent coming through Soldier Field will be the Los Angeles Rams.

Coming off a close win against the Panthers, the Rams will have to compete in the cold against a team who is more than capable of winning any close game.

Caleb β€œIceman” Williams is capable of winning any close game in the fourth quarter, but the fans are still begging him to stop giving them heart attacks before winning the game. Williams’ offense refused to get going until the fourth quarter against the Packers, but once he got fired up there’s no turning it off. Offensively fans don’t want to be worried because there’s already plenty to worry about going into round 2 of the play offs.

Going into the playoffs, it was no secret that Chicago was lacking in the defense department and it was shown on full blast against the Packers. It’s troubling to think about when you consider the offensive weapons that the Rams have.

First on the list of concerns is Matthew Stafford, the 2021 Super-Bowl champ with over 400 touchdowns in his career. His skill and overall toughness has earned the respect of Chicago’s head coach, Ben Johnson.

“You talk about the ultimate competitor. He’s one of the more supremely talented throwers of the football I’ve ever been around in my life,” says Johnson.

That elite level of leadership gets even scarier when you look at who he’s throwing the ball to. Both Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are serious threats as it seems their hands are magnetically attracted to the football.

Chicago’s defense has a lot against them but all hope isn’t lost because mother nature is on their side. The Rams’ home field is inside of a dome, which means statistically they don’t play well in cold weather. NBC Chicago reported, β€œIn 17 games played outdoors when the temperature is below freezing since 2000, those dome-dwelling teams are just 2-15, according to the statistics.”

There is a distinct advantage playing on a cold day in the windy city, but not to epic proportions due to Stafford playing in Detroit to start his career.

It’s an advantage nonetheless with the weather being 20 degrees at its best and 10 degrees at its worst on Sunday. The Bears stand a fair chance to win this game and move on to the Division Championship.

The Bears are just two wins away from being in the Super Bowl for the first time since 2007. This homefield advantage should give them the edge we need to come away with one of those very much needed wins. The game takes place on Sunday and starts at 5:30 PM.
