Best Fashion Looks of 2023

The K-pop group Blackpink is one of the most fashionable groups of 2023.

It’s nearing the end of 2023, and with new years comes new eras, new trends, and new looks. There’s much to anticipate in 2024 in the world of fashion, but what about this year? Here are some of the best and most iconic looks of 2023.

Rihanna @ The Super Bowl

Of course, if you’re a superstar who’s going to announce her second pregnancy, the best way to do it is while performing for millions around the world in an all red outfit. And Rihanna did just that. In early February, she announced her second pregnancy with rapper A$AP Rocky during her halftime performance at the Super Bowl. Not only was the announcement iconic, so was her outfit. She wore an all-red Loewe jumpsuit, a red metal breastplate, an Alaia jacket, and Margiela x Salomon sneakers. Here’s to us hoping that her new baby will be just as fashionable as her.

Beyoncé x Balmain Renaissance Couture Collection @ The Grammys

You can’t call it fashion without the queen herself. This year, to promote her Renaissance album, Beyoncé collaborated with Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing to create 17 brand new looks. Each outfit represents a song on her album, and they all give the definition of high fashion.

This year, Beyoncé was fashionably late to the 2023 Grammy Awards in February, emphasis on “fashionably,” as she wore one of the dresses in this collection before the show. This was the “Virgo Groove” dress: a pink velvet Corolla gown with a gold metallic décolleté by Elie Hirsch, as well as a gold reimagining of the vintage Balmain hat. As she won three Grammy awards that night, she certainly pulled off the queen look she was born to embody.

Margot Robbie @ The Barbie LA Film Premiere

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, starring Margot Robbie, was an exceptional hit this year, and with Barbie, comes fashion. Of course, everyone had high expectations for the pink, high feminine dresses and outfits that were to come with Barbie. And the red carpet delivered. At every turn, Robbie wore wonderful pink outfits inspired by Barbie, from Vintage Versace to Vivienne Westwood. Her most iconic look, however, was a black custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown that she wore to the Los Angeles film premiere in July. This dress, with a tulle hem, red rose accent, black opera gloves, and sheer pink handkerchief, was inspired by the 1960 Barbie doll “Solo in the Spotlight.” A fitting name, since Robbie truly stole the spotlight with this look.

Naomi Campbell @ Cannes Film Festival

If there’s one thing the biggest film festival in the world needs, it’s a pre-show. Naomi Campbell certainly gave her own pre-show at the 76th Cannes Film Festival red carpet in May. She wore a classy silver sequined Celine gown along with shades straight out of a superstar movie. Campbell wore this look elegantly, all while hundreds of photographers and paparazzi were screaming her name to get the perfect photo. And who wouldn’t want a photo with that gorgeous look?

Dua Lipa @ The Met Gala

Of course, there’s no talking about fashion without mentioning the Met Gala. This year’s event in May had a theme of “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” to honor the late fashion designer and Chanel creative director. There were many looks inspired by and taken from his collections, yet the one that really had people talking was Dua Lipa’s. Dua wore a vintage white Chanel ball gown and a Tiffany & Co. silver necklace that had over $10 million worth of diamonds. Suffice to say, she looked like a princess, and she certainly had the glamor to back it up.

Kendall Jenner @ The Vanity Fair Oscars Party

At the Oscars in March, everyone was showing off their iconic looks that truly say “movie star.” One of the notables was Kendall Jenner, who wore a gorgeous and historic dress at the Vanity Fair after party. This is a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier dress; a shimmery bronze gown with beaded mermaid scales. Not only did it look beautiful, but it was also a callback to 2008 when Marion Cotillard won Best Actress for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, as she wore the same dress in ivory. Jenner is known for collecting vintage and rare fashion pieces, so of course it was only natural for her to show off this dress, and it looked stunning on her.

Blackpink @ Coachella

K-pop stars Blackpink absolutely took over Coachella this summer. Their headline performance of “Typa Girl” has become the most watched Coachella performance ever with 71 million views. Of course, not only was their performance iconic, but so were their outfits. All four girls wore various outfits from Koma’s collection: Jisoo and Lisa wore similar chainmail halter tops, Lisa also adding a black and white motorcycle jacket by Debby Upper. Jennie and Rosé wore Koma belted bras in respective black and white colors, under a sheer black dress for Rosé and a white Mugler cutout bodysuit for Jennie. These looks not only paired well together as a group but also highlighted each idol’s personality. Simply put, they were iconic outfits deserved only by one of the biggest modern girl groups in the world.
