Bey & Blue to Star in New Lion King Movie

Bey and Blue Ivy are a part of the cast for the new movie Mufasa: The Lion King, set to release in December.

This legendary mother and daughter duo that is Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter, have captivated the hearts of fans across the world due to their collaborated performances. Now they’re entering a new venture together. Black excellence is most certainly at its finest for this young icon in the making following in the footsteps of her famous mother.

Official news was released that the cast of Mufasa: The Lion King will have a special new member. Many fans have already known that Beyoncé would most likely reprise her role in the upcoming film as Queen Nala from the 2019 Lion King remake, others were shocked that we’d be getting the best of both worlds in Queen B’s personal family. Blue Ivy has officially been cast opposite her mother in the upcoming new film as the character’s daughter, Kiara. Although this may be news for the public, this production and casting has been solidified for over three years.

According people.com, Mufasa director Barry Jenkins, adds that the Grammy-winning mother-daughter duo began their voiceover work earlier in the years-long saga to bring the movie to photorealistic-CGI life. “There was such a long process of making this film that the Renaissance tour happened and we started making this film back in 2020 or 2021,” Jenkins said. He pointed out that this happened “long before” the release of Beyoncé’s Renaissance album.

We’ve been witnessing the legends Beyoncé and Jay Z create their children and navigate them successfully for their own legacies. We are truly watching a true star in the making as Blue Ivy gains more confidence in the spotlight. Since the end of the Beyoncé’s iconic Renaissance tour, fans and critics speculated the next time we would see Blue Ivy be a part of the production space. However, just like her well-renowned mother, the parents definitely know how to keep their plans under wraps for surprise announcements. This 12-year-old is truly learning from some of the best examples of artistry in the business. The upcoming film is slated to premiere on December 20, 2024.
