Can Da Bears Keep Up the Preseason Magic?

As the Bears’ preseason wraps up, the season is approaching with a game against the Tennessee Titans on September 8th at Soldier Field. There’s a lot for us to be excited about, focusing on the 4-0 victory run led by rookie quarterback, Caleb Williams. It’s hard to judge a team off their preseason performance because teams like to play conservative in a lot of ways.

They’ll often reserve the star players and play a lot of bench players who are running limited plays to keep the upper hand at the start of the season. The Bears, however, put on an amazing showcase in all of its games showing the upwards trajectory of the organization.

Bears vs. Texans

First game of the preseason and nothing noteworthy really happens since Williams rode the bench during this game. We won this game 21-17 with Brett Rypien, the backup quarterback taking the charge. The other team was most likely using bench players as well, but we still scored over 20 points which is always a good sign.

Bears vs. Bills

The second preseason game is where we start to see some Bears magic, as Williams makes his NFL debut. He threw 4-7 getting a total of 95 yards with no touchdowns, but it’s okay because we still blew the Bills out 33-6 with three rushing touchdowns. This type of performance from the Bears is incredible even if it was against bench players. It establishes us as an actual threat in the league.

Bears vs. Bengals

This third game of the preseason told Bears fans that the magic won’t stop as they blew out the Bengals 27-3, with Tyson Bagent, another backup quarterback, leading the charge. He threw two touchdowns going 7-8 with a total of 87 yards. Williams also got some time to play, scoring his first NFL touchdown with a seven-yard scramble. A three-game winning streak with back-to-back blowouts is what Bears fans love to see, it fills our hearts with hope for a brighter Bears future.

Bears vs. Chiefs

We played against the three-time Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, to close the preseason, but the champs couldn’t stop Da Bears on their run. We won the game 34-2. Patrick Mahomes didn’t play this game, but don’t let that take away from our victory. Our team of quarterbacks has been phenomenal, with Brett Rypien leading the team to victory with a total of 106 yards, throwing 9-13.

The 4-0 preseason run is nothing to laugh at as they showed us a lot of their weapons on both the offense and defense. They’ve always had a sharp defense that’s only gotten better, but the offense has gotten better drastically. The bears getting over 20 points a game for four games straight is something I hope we can keep up during the regular season.

Don’t forget that the official start to the season begins Sunday, September 8th against the Tennessee Titans at noon Central Time.
