Coby White’s Blossoming Right Before Our Eyes!

Even in what’s been a mediocre season to this point for the Chicago Bulls, they have one thing they can be extremely proud of: the exponential growth of guard Coby White.

Before the season, the fifth-year player signed a three-year extension, tying him to Chicago through the 2025-26 season. Many people thought he’d be a solid role player for a team that was looking for some consistent shooting depth from the bench. Instead, this season, in a much increased role as a consistent starter, he’s begun to play above his contract.

After only averaging just under 10 points per game (PPG), 2.8 assists per game (APG), and 2.9 rebounds per game (RPG) last season, Coby’s production has jumped up to 19.6 PPG, 5.3 APG, and 4.7 RPG. He’s provided juice to a lineup that has lacked a consistent multi-level (layup, midrange, and three-point) scorer since Zach LaVine went down with a season-ending injury. And he’s doing all of this while playing the most minutes per game (36.3) of his career.

White quickly moved himself into All-Star conversations, and many Bulls fans were quite upset that he didn’t make the team. However, he’s a strong contender for the NBA’s Most Improved Player award. So despite the lack of overall success for the team this season, the Bulls have a star in the making in White, and he’ll only continue to grow as the seasons move forward.
