American tennis player Coco Gauff, has won her first Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open against Aryna Sabalenka. At 19 years old, Gauff is the only other teenager to win the title since Serena Williams did it at age 17.
It was no easy feat, but Gauff definitely made it look easy. Winning 18 matches of 19, Gauff put up a tough fight to make it this far. Defeating Sabalenka 2-6, 6-3 and 6-2, Gauff won her first Grand Slam and this was only her second U.S. Open that she has competed in.
She had a quick message to the haters who motivated her and helped lead her to this win.

“To those who thought you were putting water on my fire, you were really adding gas to it – and now I’m really burning so bright right now,” Gauff said after her win.
Following this win, a video of Gauff watching the U.S. Open as a child is going viral. According to US Open Tennis on X, Gauff said she would tell her younger self, “I would tell her don’t lose the dream. Keep having fun.”
In addition to winning the famous trophy, Gauf was awarded a check worth $3 million by tennis legend Billie Jean King.
