Drake Gives Us 12 Minutes of New Music

“Scary Hours 2” is a good tease

Drake / Billboard

Drake recently popped out the cut with Scary Hours 2, his newest EP. It was released on Friday and features tracks “What’s Next,” “Wants and Needs” and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.” This three-song EP comes as a sequel to Scary Hours which was released on January 19, 2018. Fans are thinking this EP drop is giving us a glimpse of the new album he’ll be dropping later this year.

Rapper Lil Baby is featured on “Wants and Needs” while rapper Rick Ross can be heard in “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.” Scary Hours 2 comes less than a year after Drake’s last project, Dark Lane Demo Tapes, which was released on May 1, 2020, and features the hit songs “Toosie Slide” and “Chicago Freestyle.”

I liked the versatility that the EP offered. Though it was only three songs, they all gave something different. “What’s Next” hyped me up because of how upbeat it was. “Wants and Needs” got me hype too, but adding Lil Baby made the song so much better. “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” was more chill and I just vibed listening to it. It gave me “Do Not Disturb” and “When To Say When” vibes.

If the future album is going to be anything like this EP, I’m excited for it. This EP was all hits and no misses. Drake said it himself in ”What’s Next”: “Weezy had handed it off, I still got no fumbles.”
