Drop The Music ASAP! (Pt. 2)

More artists who are making us wait too long for new music

Hello, and welcome back to my installment of “Drop The Music ASAP.” I’m your host Cece Kodak and today I’m gonna finish my list from the last episode.

Sam Smith

He said it best in his song from his latest album, The Thrill of It All: he’s “Too Good At Goodbyes” because he just left us hanging for the last two years without anything new. Sam Smith’s voice is so beautiful but we don’t hear it nearly as much as we should. I don’t think anyone could ever get tired of hearing his amazing voice.

Sia

An underrated hitmaker. Ever wonder who wrote “Diamonds” by Rihanna? Or “Pretty Hurts” by Beyonce? It was definitely Sia. The “Chandelier” singer is known to not really like being in the spotlight, but regardless of this fact, she puts out some amazing music.

Childish Gambino

Just like Rihanna, it seems like he’s doing everything but dropping music. I get that he does literally everything, but I need some music from Donald Glover immediately. It’s been three years since Awaken, My Love! came out and since then we’ve only got the Summer Pack a year ago that consisted of “Summertime Magic” and “Feels Like Summer.”

Adele

Sis signed the divorce papers, dropped the toxic relationship, and dropped a little weight. Now the only thing we need is some new music. Her album 25 is a little over four years old. Adele loves to drop a project on us then dip and come back as if nothing happened. I have a feeling this new and improved Adele is gonna give us what we need soon and very soon.

Lorde

The Pure Heroine album was something everybody I went to elementary school with was ranting and raving over during our middle school years. Then at the beginning of our high school career, Lorde dropped Melodrama, but that was a whole two years ago. It seems like she releases music when the people around my age are going through big changes. Considering we’ll be going off to college soon and continuing the rest of our lives, we need something new.

Bryson Tiller

It seems like all the in-your-feelings artists went ghost on us. The album True To Self came out two years ago and we haven’t heard much from Bryson Tiller since. All I know is I need some more songs like “Don’t” and “Sorry Not Sorry” to belt when I’m feeling a type of way.

There’s probably so many more great artists who I left off of my lists, but react if you liked my little series and comment on our Instagram (@true.chi) more artists who you think need to drop music ASAP.
