The 90’s will always be one of the most memorable decades in in Black culture. The fashion, art, television, etc. that came from that time period was truly epic. My outfit choices have even been personally inspired from the 90’s.
One trend from the 90’s in particular that has recently made a vicious comeback is the infamous updo. I remember going to the hair salon with my mom every other Saturday. I witnessed her and every woman in that shop getting that updo. Even though the style concept was the same, each stylist had a different craftsmanship behind it. Bangs, swoops, braids, or ponytails their personal touches were hidden throughout the updo to create a unique and amazing look.
This updo has been all over Instagram and Twitter. It has been seen on the heads of many Hollywood stars and they are rocking it beautifully. I personally think this is a refreshing break away from our typical go-to styles. I love to see millennial stylist paying homage to the stylist of the 90’s who set the foundation for their future. I tend to do the same thing with my hair, but I think I just may take a break away from the usual to try this.
Is this a trend that you think you can get with?
