FTG Spotlight Feature: Big Oxy

The From the ‘Go Fest is finally here. Chicago artist Big Oxy will be one of the artist performing on the main stage. Check him out!

What does it mean to you to perform at the FTG Fest?

It means the world to me! I get to perform in front of my city, my people. It’s gonna be so live!

How would you describe yourself as an artist?

I would describe myself as an unorthodox composer. My inspiration’s manifest beyond rap. I love sound and arrangement more than anything.

How did your passion for music begin?

Music is just life for me. I grew up in church standing right behind my dad on the drums. A year or so later, I met a piano and fell in love. I’ve always wanted to just create something that moves people.

Who are your musical influences?

Ty Dolla Sign, Jamie Foxx, Kanye West, Chris Brown, the list is extensive.

How did you come up with your stage name?

Out of boredom honestly. I had nothing to do, jobless, and time on my side. But you know they say the best inspiration comes off of instinct.

What are your main goals for a music career?

I want to be the best creative in the game. I want that title you know? I want them plaques, I want them Grammys. I want to move people.

What advice would you give other emerging artists?

Push yourself; bring your ambitions to life the best way that works for you. God put you here for your own unique purpose. He gave you that voice so go crazy!

Where do you hope to have the opportunity to perform one day?

Super Bowl, MSG, Wembley I want that big stage. We on the way there for sure!

What has been the highlight of your musical career thus far?

To be honest people hitting me up from countries I’ve never heard of to show love for the work I put in.

What are your hobbies outside of music?

Football, basketball, food, fashion, cologne, in no specific order.

Be sure to come check out Big Oxy this Saturday, July 27th, at the From The ‘Go Fest from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the DuSable Museum campus. Click here to get a free festival pass.
