Chicago’s very own artist and curator Gary Green returned home to open SVNGRN, a non-profit art gallery in downtown Chicago in the Fulton Market area. On April 25th the art center opened with an event from 6pm – 9pm at 310 N. Peoria Street. Upon entry attendees were greet with amazing art work and sculptures that would have you memorized. The art gallery displayed pieces from Chicago artists Ana Elisa Fernández, Fidelis Ayuwa Izekor, Alejandro De Narváez, Judith Reissmann.

Green is the curator of SVNGRN, but he is also an artist himself. Throughout his career, he has gained recognition for community-rooted projects including A Good Day for  Play with Nickelodeon and the “Tales of the Turtles” mural competition tied to the NASCAR Cup Series from his previous work at Good Details Gallery.

During the open of SVNGRN, Green stated, “We want a space where we could teach kids art while showing them what we have done and how good they can be if they take the time to learn the craft of art. I want to thank everyone who came out today and let’s create a movement.”

Be on the lookout for more events happening at SVNGRN soon. For more information about SVNGRN visit their website.
