TrueStar Staff
Come join True Star Thursday, July 10th, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at our From The Go’ Fest pop-up event at McDonald’s on 25th and King. This “Wrapped and Ready” event, sponsored by BMOA (Black McDonald’s Operators Association), will have McDonald’s chicken snack wraps available for the early arrivals. The all ages event will be open to the public and will include performances from Zia Jenaye, Hay’Lee Love, Dj Hot Rod, Chey, and Zion Ali.
Since 2004, BMOA has been an unwavering supporter of True Star. BMOA published True Star’s first three newsletters through their Write to Achieve program. There was a mutual interest in amplifying youth voices before it was popular.
“They didn’t just believe in our vision, they invested in it…BMOA makes it possible for young creatives to not only dream but to do,” said True Star Co- Founder DeAnna Sherman.
This year marks year five of True Stars annual From The ‘Go Fest. Started in 2020 by students Zuri Yearwood and Xiah Bryant, what began as a small idea has turned into one of Chicago’s most prominent summer festivals. People from across the city come together to enjoy music and have a good time in a safe space.
Be sure to join us today at the From The Go’ Fest prelude and at this year’s From The Go’ Fest on July 26th!
