As the iconic legend that is Beyoncé once sung, “Who runs the world?” Girls!
This is a very rare moment to see at one time, but it’s a blessing that these three icons are continuing to open doors for all women around the world and showing them how much greatness they truly are capable of. #BillionGirlSummer has been trending on social media platforms as Beyoncé, Barbie, and Taylor Swift have shocked pop culture as we know it. “The hype surrounding Barbie, Beyoncé’s Renaissance, and Taylor’s Eras tour is commensurate with the sheer amount of resources, time and attention so many Americans of all races, genders and ages are devoted to being part of this moment. Critical acclaim has followed each of these works, layers of meaning are being made. They are an undeniable triumph of women’s creativity and ownership,” NPR reports.
Barbie has officially become the highest grossing Warner Bros film in history at the domestic box office. Greta Gerwig, the director of the Mattel doll apadation, has made history as the highest-grossing female director in the U.S. with this massive release hit. According to Deadline, “Barbie‘s global tally also makes her the highest grossing live-action pic from a female filmmaker at the box office, besting Captain Marvel‘s $1.13 billion WW take, that movie co-directed by Anna Boden.” Beyoncé is in her own lane, as always, with breaking records and barriers that she’s even set. The Renaissance Tour is now the highest-grossing tour by a Black artist in history, breaking her own record for her Formation World Tour and surpassing Taylor Swift’s tour sales. Although Queen Bey and Taylor Swift are currently on tour at the same time, the Swifities have definitely had massive turnouts and The Eras Tour is one of the highest grossing for a female in history. All three of these empowering women are already in or nearing the Billion club.
The year of 2023 has definitely been one for the books and women stepping into their true power, which has been nothing but refreshing and inspiring to witness. As someone who has attended The Renaissance Tour, it was definitely one of the best moments of my life. Beyoncé was worth every penny for her tickets and witnessing Blue Ivy throughout her journey of becoming a star is a moment that’ll be discussed in industry history. All of these amazing women are changing the industry and I can’t wait to see what more is in store for the future.
