Gotta Holiday Movie Itch? Watch “The Princess Switch” On Netflix

Christmas time means binge-watching holiday movies on your downtime. If that’s your thing, then Netflix fans are in for a sweet treat. The Princess Switch starring Vanessa Hudgens is sure to give nostalgic vibes while satisfying your holiday movie appetite.

A while back, Netflix teased an idea of a new “twin” movie coming, sort of like the Parent Trap starring Lindsay Lohan that came out in 1998. My honest thought was: Could any twin movie live up to Lohan’s iconic performance of Annie and Hallie? Well no, The Princess Switch is a great Christmas movie, but I don’t think anyone can out beat Lohan.

In this flick, the Christmas spirit brings together a local Chicago baker and a soon-to-be-married princess, who look exactly alike. And they do what any person would do under those circumstances—switch places. Hudgens plays both the princess and the baker. If you’re hoping for a performance like High School Musical this isn’t it. This movie puts Hudgens in a completely different light, no singing or dancing. Instead, she’s stretching her acting abilities by playing two different characters, which has to be difficult. I did enjoy the movie due to my love for Hudgens and wanting to feel the Christmas spirit, plus the plot twist of a regular girl switching places with a princess doesn’t sound too odd from a little girl’s dream.

Hudgens has been pretty lowkey since her Disney days, and I’m excited to see her back on my screen. It was never a dull moment with her in this movie. Even though this flick was a little predictable, Hudgens truly gave a great performance and channeled an energy that is sure to make any holiday movie lover intrigued. The Princess Switch is a great love story that ties in with the Christmas spirit. The actual switch might not be better than The Parent Trap, but for youngins’ that have no idea about that movie it will do. If you’ve already watched all the holiday classics and are in need of a new movie to watch with your friends, family, or boo this is a great movie to watch.

Hi! I can eat an entire jar of pickles in one setting and I LOVE to binge watch shows on Netflix. One of the most important quotes to me:
“and in that moment, I swear we were infinite.”
