Happy Food To Boost Your Mood

There has definitely been a lot of uncertainty during this time which has been scary for a lot of people. One thing is for certain though: We all gotta eat. Since feeding ourselves is a must, we may as well eat something that’s good that can put your in a good mood. To help pass the time during these days of isolation, why not try out a new dish? Here is a recipe for Dutch apple pie that is sure to please a crowd.

Ingredients: 

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust

Dutch apple pie topping:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 cup softened butter

Pie filling:

7 cups granny smith apples (about 2.5 pounds)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 cup butter

Pinch of salt

Instructions: 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Topping:

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, both sugars, cinnamon and butter and mix until well-mixed crumbles form
  2. place in the refrigerator

Filling:

  1. Boil apples until soft
  2. Peel the apples and cut into slices
  3. In a large bowl combine sliced apples, both sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and mix.
  4. Once everything is mixed, slice the butter into thin slices and add them to the filling mixture
  5. Add filling into the crust and bake at 350 for 40-45 min. then add crumble on top and bake until golden brown for another 10-15 min.
  6. Cool pie for 30 minutes and enjoy!
