No matter your political views, if you are a woman or a person of color this should be a day to celebrate, as we have seen one of our own succeed; and with her success, she broke the glass ceiling for future generations.
With the election of Joe Biden–the soon-to-be 46th President of the United State–Kamala Harris also rose to office, making history as the first female Vice President of the United States and the first women of color at that.
Today people are celebrating all across the world and there’s been dancing in the streets and cries of relief. Like, literally. After the November 3rd election it took four agonizing days before the majority of votes were counted announcing the Biden-Harris duo as winners. This election will go down in history as having the biggest voter turnout since 1908.

Many people are upset with the results of the election, but the people have spoken and what’s done is done. Come January we will have a new president and new vice president in office, with new ideals and new plans.
Trump is one of those people who’s upset, unsurprisingly, and he has said on social media time and time again since the results that he believes this election is not done. He also believes that some sort of fraud took place for Biden to win.
From the moment votes slowly began trickling in Biden’s direction, Trump advocated for stopping the counting of votes and claimed that early votes were “illegal.” “This is a major flaw in our nation,” he said during a press conference. “We want the law to be used in a proper manner. So we’ll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop. We don’t want them to find any ballots at four o’clock in the morning and add them to the list.”
Danielle Brewer, a tenth grader at Morgan Park High School, considers Trump’s behavior to be immature. “I think he’s a crybaby and the only reason he wanted votes to stop was because he knows he’s going to lose. Plus, whenever he loses something he says it’s rigged, but I don’t think he can say that now.”
The problem is that he is saying that the election was rigged. Trump has even gone as far as to threaten a lawsuit against Nevada and Pennsylvania. It seems two Republican members of Congress are determined to continue his work by filing a similar lawsuit. A letter to the Justice Department stated, “Irregularities have plagued the election in Clark County, including lax procedures for authenticating mail ballots and over 3,000 instances of ineligible individuals casting ballots.” If the current President keeps his word, there is a high probability that there may be many more lawsuits from Trump’s attorneys in the works.
If we can give Trump credit for anything at all, it’s that he’s determined to go down fighting to the very end.
