Back in April we told you that Kimora Lee Simmons was relaunching her clothing line Baby Phat through a collaboration with the clothing store Forever 21. Last night it became official. Prior to the launch, fans we’re extremely excited to be bringing early 2000’s fashion trends back into style. However, many fashionistas we’re a little disappointed to find out that Simmons was collaborating with Forever 21 for the relaunch.
After Forever 21 had collaborated with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and USPS, stamping these companies logos across t-shirts, pencil skirts, purses, and bodycon dresses, fans we’re very concerned about how the Baby Phat and Forever 21 collaboration would turn out. At midnight Baby Phat dropped the official promotional video for the Forever 21 collaboration. The video set my mind at ease because it reminded me of being a little girl excited to buss out my freshest Baby Phat fit to head to the skating rink with my friends on a Saturday afternoon.
The video featured Kimora herself, her two daughters Ming Lee Simmons and Aoki Lee Simmons, and the Combs twins Jessie and D’Lila Combs. The video was perfect. It put you back in the mindset of when Baby Phat was first released back in 1998.
So far the Baby Phat line includes biker shorts, crop tops, tube tops, bamboo earrings, jumpsuits, and graphic tees. The majority of the items are either cheetah print, bright pink, white, or black. The line overall is very inclusive, including sizes for petite and plus size women. Not only is it inclusive, but it’s affordable, the most expensive piece is $35. I love that Kimora has ensured that this release will be something that every young woman can look good in while also saving her coins.
The newly released Baby Phat collection can be purchased online at www.forever21.com or in stores.
