Kai Cenat just hit a million subscribers on Twitch and it’s making a huge impact on social media as a whole. Ever since Cenat hit the scene in 2021, he’s been setting the tone for how powerful a Twitch based following can be.
Having a million subs on Twitch is a much more impressive feat than having a million on YouTube solely because on Twitch they’re paying to become a sub. So in this 2025 economy, Cenat has a million people paying him for uninterrupted entertainment which is huge.
Cenat’s stream is completely free to watch, but it comes with ads that Twitch pays him to run. If you don’t want to watch ads, you can pay to become a subscriber and enjoy other perks like limitless chatting and special emotes.
Cenat has three tiers of subscribers, tier 1 being the most basic and commonly bought. Tier 1 is $5 and grants you all the perks mentioned before, the other two tiers just offer more exclusive emotes showing your elite level of support towards the creator.
For the purpose of pocket watching, let’s just assume all one million of his subscribers are just tier 1 people. That means his subs are making him roughly $5 million a month. Now Twitch takes a percentage of the sub money, but because of his stature Cenat probably gets a favorable split in his contract.
This is subscribers ALONE, not mentioning ad revenue, sponsorships, and donations made on his stream. Cenat opening up this type of economy for content creators is amazing to see.
Money aside, his impact on culture has been nothing short but spectacular. Cenat has played a huge part in making streaming the new method for upcoming content creators. It has generated an age of “clip farming” where streamers do things for popular clips on social media. For the month of September Cenat’s goal for his third Mafiathon was to reach a million subscribers with the promise to have his locs cut off by none other than NBA champ LeBron James. On the last day of the month, with over a million viewers watching, Cenat came through on that promise.
The rise of streaming pairs with modern social media so well, as content creators are starting to be recognized as real deal celebrities. The creator economy is the best it’s ever been. Clippers, the people who clip streamers and post them, are making a living just by spreading streamer’s content.
YouTube was already a great way for creators to make a lot of money, now with the rise of streaming the social media industry as a whole has just elevated. The growth of the media industry is best represented by Cenat’s growth.
Cenat hitting this milestone is a big deal for all upcoming social media creators because he’s breaking new ground for other content creators of this generation. As a young content creator myself, I salute him and wish him even more prosperity. With his energy and overall entertainment abilities, he deserves every dollar and all the praise.
