The sports scene is crazy right now and we definitely don’t know what to expect in the future. In the past month we have seen questionable moves and announcements from sports organizations such as the NBA, WNBA, and NFL.
Starting with the NBA trading Luka Doncic, of the Dallas Mavericks for the Lakers’ Anthony Davis, caught the whole world by storm. The next big trade that came by surprise was the Chicago Bulls sending Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings, which would also send star point guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs. We also saw Dennis Schroder of the Toronto Raptors call the NBA trade deadline modern day slavery. He ended up being traded four times within two days. He now plays for the Detroit Pistons.
Just days later after the Doncic and AD trade, we got news that the Milwaukee Bucks traded vet Khris Middleton for Kyle Kuzma which also shocked everyone. The next two trades would come by surprise as well, with the Golden State Warriors acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, formally with the Minnesota Timberwolves but now with the Heat, and Brandon Ingram, formally with New Orleans, traded to the Toronto Raptors.
Now in the NFL, we didn’t get any trades, but we did get surprising updates with Browns superstar Myles Garrett requesting a trade after eight seasons. LA Rams Cooper Kupp mentioned the Rams are looking to trade him after eight seasons. Kupp is arguably still the best player on the team at this moment. Next would be Deebo Samuel requesting a trade from the 49ers after six seasons.
Last is the WNBA. This off-season has been crazy with Brittany Griner leaving the Mercury to join Atlanta. The Las Vegas Aces trading Kelsey Plum for Jewell Loyd. Alyssa Thomas, of the Connecticut Sun, and Satou Sabally, of the Dallas Wings, traded to the Phoenix Mercury. Chicago Sky let go one of their star players — Dana Evans — who was traded to the Las Vegas Aces. Courtney Vandersloot returned to Chicago where she won the 2021 finals with the Sky, and lastly, DaWanna Bonner signed with the Indiana Fever.

To say that these recent trades have been a shake-up is an understatement. Guess we’ll just have to see how things go in the coming season.
