“I want you to hear it from me: The COVID-19 vaccine is safe. Period”

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot showed Chicago that we are moving in a positive direction as she rolled up her sleeve to receive her first dose of that coronavirus vaccine. As the City of Chicago moved forward into phase 1B of the Covis-19 vaccination plan, Lightfoot and the Chicago Department for Public Health announced a plan to ensure racial equity in the next phase of vaccine distribution through the Protect Chicago Plus Initiative.

“All of us in city government as well as our many community partners are working every day to ensure the vaccine is getting to those who need it most. And most importantly, we’re working to share the proper information so that when it becomes available, people make the informed choice to take it.”

The Protect Chicago Plus Initiative will target 15 of Chicago’s most impacted and vulnerable communities including West Englewood, New City, Gage Park, North Lawndale, South Lawndale, Chicago Lawn, Englewood, Roseland, Archer Heights, Washington Heights, Austin, Montclare, South Deering, Belmont Cragin and Humboldt Park.
