Lolla Day 2 Recap: Tyler Steals The Show

Tyler The Creator put on a fantastic performance on Day 2 of Lolla. / YouTube

The second day at Lolla was definitely more hyped due to one of the biggest names on the ticket, Tyler The Creator. Everyone was excited to see his new album be performed as well as his previous, which never got the chance to touch stage.

I was super pleased today with the acts I saw, they delivered in their own way. Giveon was the first act I saw who was literally breathtaking. His extreme vocals were mesmerizing and his set list was exceptional. He did his TikTok song and loyal fan songs while balancing them perfectly. I loved his set.

The second person I saw was Roddy Ricch. His energy was great and he actually performed a good amount of songs.  He was also the first artist I saw with background dancers which was refreshing and fun. I had the best fried chicken tacos from the Broken English booth after this. It was the perfect snack to replenish my energy and it had some delicious ghost pepper mayo on it. One thing about Lolla is that it never misses on the food. I’ve eaten better food these past two days than I have all summer.

Had to document the day with a selfie of myself and fellow True Star member Xiah.

Tyler The Creator was the last set of the day and he put on the performance I was waiting for. Tyler started his set by pushing a luggage cart with big Louie Vuitton trunks onto stage and changing out of his bellhop outfit. At that point I knew he was going to tell a story and put on a wonderful show. His set list was diverse, appealing to old and new fans as he melodically rapped tracks off his most recent album Call Me If You Get Lost and oldies off of Flower Boy and Igor too.

Tyler’s props were the best I’ve seen so far. He had a hydraulic boat built into the stage that jerked up and down. As he sat in it, you could tell he felt proud of himself for making it this far in the music industry and being someone that thousands of people come out for. It was great to see him remain humble and grateful throughout the show as he stopped in between songs providing monologue-like speeches telling stories of haters and heartbreaks that inspired his most popular songs.

When I'm not dancing, I'm writing. And if I'm not writing, I'm sleeping. Yeah I know, I have a pretty boring life.
