
BET recently announced the host, nominees, and premiere date for the 2022 “Soul Train Awards.” The event will premiere Sunday, November 27 at 7 pm Central Standard Time.
Comedian, writer, and actor Deon Cole, commonly known for his role as Charley in television series “Black-ish” will be hosting the “Soul Train Awards.” In a recent statement Cole said, “Hosting the ‘Soul Train Awards’ is a dream come true. I grew up watching Soul Train and ‘til this day, I’ve never met a Soul Train Line I didn’t bless with my skilled two step.”

There are eleven categories presented at annual awards show, which are: Best New Artist, Certified Soul Award, Best Gospel/Inspirational Award, Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, The Ashford And Simpson Songwriter’s Award, Best Dance Performance, Video of the Year, and Best Collaboration. From each category there will be one selected winner.

Beyoncé, whose latest album is Renaissance, and Mary J. Blige, whose newest project is Good Morning Gorgeous, led this year’s nominations with seven nominations each. These artists have their own sounds that have molded the industry in a different way while making strides for not only Black artists, but also Black female artists. Ari Lennox follows with six nods and Lizzo and Chris Brown each have five. See the full list of nominees by clicking here.
