Let’s be real. Ever since Meghan Markle had began publicly dating Harry, the British media would continuously ridicule her. Once they were engaged it didn’t get any better with British media relating Markle to being, “Straight Outta Compton” and constantly being compared to Kate Middleton. It was as though everywhere Markle turned she was being judged. Yet, through it all Meghan has taught us some extremely valuable lessons. No matter what has been said, Markle has managed to handle everything with grace despite hurting behind the scenes (Remember when she and Harry began their world tour and Markle gave a teary-eyed confession in an interview that “not many people have asked if I’m okay.”).
It should come as no surprise that her and Harry want to step back from their senior royal duties and do their own thing in North America. Through it all Markle has shown remarkable strength and has remained resilient through the recent drama still finding a way to be kind and spread that kindness throughout the world.
With that being said, her and Harry’s choice to want to step back from royal duties is definitely a brave step, but I believe it’s a step in the right direction. Racism is possibly a huge factor as to why the two want to leave and Harry does want to keep his family safe. I mean, can we really blame him? If anything, Harry has experienced up-close how constant criticism and negative media can affect one’s life through his mother Princess Diana.
Meghan has truly been an inspiration to any of us and I hope that all goes well for her and Harry.
