Just as she promised and satisfyingly delivered, one of our favorite female rap artists dropped her highly anticipated album. Megan Thee Stallion’s latest release, Good News, leaves it all out on the table from the headlining news she’s made this year.
One of the many things that I love about Megan Thee Stallion is her ability to remain positive and look for the good in any situation that she’s been faced against. This can be heard and analyzed on the track “Shots Fired” as she raps over a sample Biggie previously recorded–“Who Shot Ya?”–a song many believe was a reference to Tupac.
What would her album be without addressing one of her most controversial and traumatic experiences that covered news headlines? We all know she’s talking about the incident involving rap artist Tory Lanez who allegedly shot her in the foot. If there was any confusion on where Megan stands on the situation with Lanez and their dynamic, the last line of the track says it all: “I should’ve let them lock yo a** up! … P****y.”
The song “Body” is another track on the album that’s gathered massive attention and dance challenges across social media. Fans of all ages are trying to recreate the moves from her newly released music video. The video is filled with nothing less than curvy bodies as it consists of fun, twerking, and dance battles. If you look closely, you may see several famous faces that make a guest appearance.
Megan Thee Stalli has even gone on a social media spree finding videos all over of fans and known celebrities/choreographers taking their shot at trying to get noticed and posted to her page. It doesn’t matter your gender, race, or sexual preference, Megan seems to be loving all the post from the #BodyChallenge. The song advocates for all “bodies” and to love your shape regardless of what it is. Also, to brag on it, always. If you don’t hype yourself up, then who will?
If you haven’t heard Megan Thee Stallion’s newest album Good News, you might want to listen ASAP! You won’t be disappointed.
