Looking to start your Halloween of on the right foot? Don’t just go trick or treating (if you still do!) or to a Halloween party! Go to a haunted house! There are so many to go to in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs! Some are free and some are not but either way you will find one that is sure to make your Halloween a great one! Here’s a list of some haunted houses you can go to!

13 Terrors Haunted House: The Theatre on the Lake at Lake Shore Drive and Fullerton Avenue is turning into a haunted house from Oct. 26-28. Confront evil clowns, deadly ghouls and other terrifying haunts for $10 a person. The Chicago Park District recommends that this haunted house is suited for ages 8 and up.
Seadog Haunted Tours: Take in a night time architectural tour that explores some of Chicago’s haunted past. Tour guides in costume will guide you on this chilling experience, meant for all ages. Ticket prices are $17.95 for children and $28.95 for adults. This tour runs through Oct. 27 and there is one final performance on Oct. 31.
Anderson Park Haunted House: An interactive fun house for kids age 6 and up, this haunted house is sure to be a fun time for the whole family. Tickets are $5. Don’t worry, the lights will be on at this haunted house! The event is on Oct. 26 beginning at 6 p.m.
Austin Town Hall Haunted House: Don’t miss this Chicago Park District event on Oct. 25. Included is a dark room, inflatables and many more spooky surprises for the whole family. Tickets are $3 a person.
Fairy Tale Trail: Located in Evanston, just outside of the city, the Fairy Tale Trail is a Halloween experience for young children. This event, happening on Oct. 26 and 27, is fully accessible for children with special needs and designed to stimulate the senses of any little one who loves Halloween! Make sure to show up in costume.
Dream Reapers: The true haunted house experience is what you’ll get at Dream Reapers, a massive Melrose Park warehouse with 22 rooms of terror. This high-tech house has actors as well as animatronic details for extra scares. Tickets are $16 general admission and the house is open until Oct. 31.
Fear City Haunted House: Just outside of the city in northwest suburban Morton Grove, you’ll find Fear City and Hades Haunted House, a 40,000-square-foot experience that will scare your pants off. Check out this scary spot between now and Oct. 31.
