As soon as you get done reading this post, go listen to this song! So you guys know how the beat can make or break a song, and some of the best songs are samples- sometimes samples of other very popular songs. But there is a difference between a memorable and/or very popular song and a classic song. It can be very risky to attempt to sample a classic song and use parts of it to weave into your new modern song, when I tell you Luke Christopher did it RIGHT, it’s ridiculous. He took the classic “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough ” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, put it into his song “Mountains” and created a masterpiece. When you sample something so good and so classic, you have to make sure that what you added to it is not mediocre and worthy of using that song. Luke did just that, he not only showed respect to the original song, he also made himself look so good with the track that it is not overpowered by the sample. I have this on REPEAT, there is definitely room for him in the industry. I’m super excited to hear more from him— he has bars AND can sing, and the best part is, he’s not a Drake copy!
