For a lot of us, prom is like a fairy tale that we’ve dreamt about from the first moment we walked into those high school doors. But what some of us were never told about prom is how expensive it can really get. The dress, the suit, the hair, the nails, the shoes, I mean the list of expenses goes on and on. Since I went through this just last year, I feel that it’s only right that I share with you all four things you can save money on when it comes to getting ready for prom.
Rent a tux or buy a dress off the rack
See, this is where people often go wrong for prom. Getting a custom made dress or suit isn’t the only option you have when it comes to getting that fit together. Think about it. When you have something custom made you have to buy the fabric, find a designer, and constantly go in for fittings. That’s a lot of work and money. Not only can renting a tux or buying a dress off the rack save you a lot of coins, but it can also save you a lot of time and stress. This way your fit is already made and ready to go.
Make your own decorations
YouTube is your friend. Go there and learn how to create your own balloon arch and balloon decorations for your send-off. There are companies that charge hundreds of dollars to make balloon decorations that are only going to last you a day. By taking the time to be creative you can use those extra dollars toward something more important that you might need.
Go half on a car with your date or even another couple
Nowadays, everyone likes to roll in a luxury car for prom, so why not go half with another couple and your date so you all can ride deep. I mean, think about. Say you want to rent a Lamborghini truck. You, your date and another couple can put in money all together and have it for a cheaper price.
For your send-off party, skip having the fancy stake and lobster catered to your house. Get something that you like! If you regularly like to eat pizza then order pizza! And when it comes to setting things up for your guests, don’t forget about your friendly neighborhood Dollar Store. It’s a good place to go to load up on treats for your candy table.
Remember, there’s never anything wrong with saving y’all!
