Projects sWish Gives Back for 6th Year

Project sWish Chicago held their 6th Annual Back-2-School event on the grounds of the DuSable Museum on the Southside of Chicago.

Project sWish Chicago (PSC), recently hosted seven free Back-2-school events for elementary and high school students the week leading up to the opening of Chicago Public Schools. PSC had basketball camps, dance camps, a festival, and a celebrity softball game.

The Project  sWish (PSC) Back-2-School Festival provided a great time and resources to more than 1500 people. There was something for everyone to enjoy, both kids and adults.

“I loved this event,” said seventh grader Dejohnna Sanders of Owen Scholastic Academy, “especially since I got to do what I love most which is dance.”

Eighth grader Aiyden Barron of Huth Middle School, also enjoyed his time at the PSC outing. “The event was so much fun! I got to play basketball most of the time, eat snow cones, listen to performers, and get a book bag and swag items.”

PSC gave away more than 700 backpacks filled with school supplies. The highlight was a surprise performance by Star Bandz. The crowd went crazy! I had a chance to talk to her about her career at 16 and the importance of going back to school and. She was very nice and approachable.

The overall event experience was fantastic and definitely beneficial for attendees. The event included so many exciting activities. Six lovely young ladies called the sWish Stars, performed a few dance routines to get the crowd hyped up. There were other performers, a bouncy house, basketball, food, drinks, chess, a care van for back-to school-shots, a dental van, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Me and My Bears, sports physicals, face painting, barbers and hairstylist, video games and more.
