Singer and billy entrepreneur Rhianna, has officially joined the cast of the fun and untitled animated “Smurfs” film. She will also serve as a producer of the film and write/perform original music for the soundtrack. Not only is she excited to be a part of the film, but Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies are just as excited for her presence and talents.
According to thewrap.com, “On behalf of our studio and our creative partners at LAFIG, we couldn’t be more excited to have found our Smurfette in one of the most beloved stars in the world,” Brian Robbins, president and CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, and Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, said in a statement. “With Rihanna’s singular creative appeal and musical talents, there is an enormous opportunity to elevate the cultural touchstone of The Smurfs universe in a way that’s never been done before.” This will be a major milestone of the “Smurfs” franchise and will only continue to encourage other legendary artists to be a part of the film series.

After RiRi jokingly discussed at CinemaCon that she originally wanted to secure the role of “Big Papa” over “Smurfette,” she also confirmed that she’s in her third trimester with her second baby. According to variety.com, “The film, according to Naito, will explore themes of identity and ask the central question, “What is a Smurf?” Rihanna previously lent her voice to the DreamWorks animated feature “Home,” which grossed over $380 million at the worldwide box office.” The film is set to premiere in two years on February 15, 2025.
Rhianna has shown that she’ll keep working on projects and performances even throughout pregnancy, so maybe we’ll see her in a film or a new unexpected album? We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed!
