Black Panther’s Costume Designer Partners With H&M For New Clothing Line

The Oscar winning costume designer, Ruth Carter has partnered with H&M to debut her very first fashion collection. She has been in the game for over 40 years and received one of the highest fashion recognitions for her Afrofuturist designs in the modern classic movie Black Panther.

The “Ruthless” line is set to debut this Thursday, February 13th. The line will have 11 pieces and it will also be inspired by 80’s and 90’s fashion. There will be direct inspiration from the 1989 Spike Lee film, Do the Right Thing. The Ruthless collection will use a lot of red, black, and green colors to represent the African liberation flag.

I don’t know about you, but I am very anxious for this line to drop. Do the Right Thing is one of my favorite movies, and I loved how each character was styled. The bucket hats, the cloth basketball shorts, and overalls are still in my closet. I appreciate 80’s and 90’s fashion because the industry truly catered to those who like to be fashionable and comfortable. This launch was strategically planned out to show support of Black History Month. You will be able to purchase items from the Ruthless collection at and it will be available at select stores.

I rep the 219, Indiana. I'm a wardrobe stylist and owner of Vintage By. B. I love shopping for pieces that are different and that I know nobody else will have! But one thing I hate about shopping is going broke doing so. Throughout the years of me working in retail, I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks for saving LOTS of money when shopping. I also go against trends by Vintage shopping. I find pieces that I can pair together to create works of art. You can call me a penny pincher, but I'll look BOMB while pinching my pennies :)
