Simone Biles Masters 5th Skill

Simone Biles has yet another gymnastic skill named after her.

Legendary Olympic gymnast Simone Biles made history once again as she completed the Yurchenko double pike vault this Sunday, October 1st at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastic Championships.  The 26-year-old gymnast is the first person in history to complete this trick, aka The Biles Two, at a World Championship, making it the 5th skill to be named after her.  The other four skills named after Biles include two-floor routines, one balance beam routine, and one vault routine.

According to NBC News, Biles earned a difficulty score of 6.4 (one of the highest difficulty scores possible according to new scoring regulations) and an all-around score of 58.865, earning a first-place position at the end of the World Championship’s qualifying round.  The United States’ team together is predicted to win the World title earning a score of 171.395 at the qualifying stage.

Biles, who just became the oldest gymnast to win an all-around title at the U.S. national championships, is proving that she continues to raise the bar no matter the age.  Biles plans on competing in the Paris 2024 Olympics next summer and is prioritizing her health and happiness above anything else.  “Everything that we’re doing leading up to [Paris 2024] is very intentional. We’ve kind of been playing it on the down-low this time, making sure mentally and physically are both intact,” Biles said in an interview with the “TODAY” show.  Ever since she shocked the world by dropping out of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics team final for mental health issues, Biles is proving that she is back and better than ever.

At this point, there is no denying that Simone Biles is one of the greatest gymnasts to ever compete.  As she and her team continue to prepare to make history at the Women’s World Championship this Wednesday, fans are confident that this will not be the last time they will see Biles perform on the main stage.
