Sky Snaps Losing Streak

Dana Evans scores a bucket for the Sky who beat the LA sparks 80-63.

The Chicago Sky finally snaps their six-game losing streak recently against the Los Angeles Sparks winning 80-63 in regulation.

The game was balanced at the beginning with the Sky and Sparks tying three times and changing leads nine times. The standout player for the Sky was Courtney Williams who put up 21 points with nine rebounds. Other key players weโ€™re Marina Mabrey with 13 points, four assist, and five rebounds also Kahleah Cooper with 14 points and six rebounds.

When Coach Wade was asked about Williams, he stated, โ€œShe played well. The rotation was nice.
Courtney has been a solid player throughout the season. We seen improvements tonight compared to our previous games. Marina is definitely getting better especially on defense. Marina was lockedย  in. For Dana I think shes starting to see how important she is, especially because Rebekah (out due to a foot injury) is hurt.”

Williams was absolutely on fire. She stated, โ€œEverybody just has to be ready and prepared. Iโ€™m still adjusting to a new team and environment at the point guard position so it takes time, and I feel like Iโ€™m getting better every day.”

Azura Stevens

For the Sparks, it was Azura Stevens’ return to Chicago since she left this past off-season. Stevens was a part of the championship team in 2021. Key players for the Sparks were Nneka Ogwumike with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Chiney Ogwumike with 11 points and five rebounds, and last, Jordin Canada with 13 points and three rebounds.
