Sunday’s Best Playlist By Shay

I don’t know about anybody else but I know the Lord has been, and has always came through for me! Although she has passed, I used to believe that I went to church because my grandmother would’ve wanted me to. But now I truly go because I appreciate and worship the Lord as my savior.

So with that being said, I would like to provide y’all with a few tracks that get me through my rough times and remind me of all the blessings that have been bestowed upon me.

  1. Total Praise by Richard Smallwood: Something about the notes hit in the song and how their hit makes me cry every time it’s sung by a live choir with soul. This song itself proves that in order to sing a gospel song the right way you have to have been through something in this life.
  2. The Battle Is Not Yours by Yolanda Adams: My grandmother would sit and rock in this recliner in the corner of her room, and when I envision her doing that this song plays in the background. Baby, this song is the ultimate get me through a tough time track.
  3. Melodies From Heaven by Kirk Franklin: I firmly believe that every Black person knows this song. Like whether or not you go to church every Sunday, and regardless of your vocal skills, this is a sing along and worship the Lord song.
  4. One Wing by Jordin Sparks: Y’all know the funeral scene in Sparkle? The one where Jordin Sparks just goes off! Like completely off!
  5. Never Would Have Made It by Marvin Sapp: Marvin Sapp is like the grandaddy of my gospel playlist. This song here literally gives all glory to God and I love it!

There is probably an anecdote for every song on this playlist but instead of giving them and having this turn into an essay I’m just going to put the link here!
