Support Black On Black Friday

Candy Paints is a great place to shop for stocking stuffers.

The Christmas season has officially begun. To stay safe, stay indoors and support Black owned businesses this winter and check out this roundup of online shops and creators!

Candy Paints sells beautiful custom nail polishes that make the perfect stocking stuffer with lots of colors to choose from. Another great item to drop in someone’s stocking is a lip gloss. Visit Fenty Beauty online and get a Black Friday discount that lasts until the 30th!

If “sculptural silhouettes handmade to compliment the modernist woman” are more your speed, check out the jewelry available at Nandina Yan YC. If vintage decor pieces and clothing are your style, check out Aarica Nichole’s Etsy shop. With over 2,000 sales and countless happy customers, there’s no better place to shop vintage and secondhand.

Harriet’s Bookshop is an indie online bookstore based out of Philadelphia that sells a wide range of books from their collection online and in person! A monthly list of recommendations for indie books, activist texts and Black history books are all available on the shop’s website. Children’s books and classics are also popular here, so order a new read for all of your loved ones! If you want to support on a more local level, you should take the time to visit Chicago’s Semicolon Bookstore online or in person (located at 515 N. Halsted Street).

The Lam Label is a custom ceramics shop based in Houston. Signature pieces include vases and sculptures shaped like hands and bodies, as well as ceramic centerpieces and decorations. Nymavu Apothecary sells affordable custom candles named after specific numbers, and the scents and aesthetics that match them. My personal favorite is 4 (my lucky number!)

Another way you can support a Black owned business is by shopping at True Star’s our online store. Now is the perfect time to pick up a “Black History in the Making” hoodie to stay warm and represent.
