The multi-city festival celebrates good vibes and nostalgia

Just like Wisconsin, the Tacos and Tequila Festival showed up in the Midwest, and Chicago blew the bar off the scale.

Chamillionaire

The festival took place this past Saturday at Northwestern Medicine Field, and doors opened at 1:30 p.m. with DJ Aston Martin. This year’s Chicago lineup consisted of Mims, Frankie J, Young Joc, Chamillionaire, Xzibit, Ginuwine, and your co-headliner and headliner, Ja Rule and Three 6 Mafia. The energy was high for every artist. Chamillionaire stated during his set that he had just finished a show in Boston, and he said, β€œWe killed the audience in Boston.” Chamillionaire performed songs such as Hip-Hop Police, Ridin, and Doe Boy Fresh.

Young Joc performing I Know You See It

Everyone lost their mind for Young Joc, who recently celebrated his birthday and said this was one of the best birthday gifts Chicago could have ever given him. Young Joc performed hit songs including I Know You See It, It’s Goin’ Down, and Knock It Out. Xzibit hit the stage after Young Joc, bringing the West Coast to the Midwest. Xzibit really showed tribute to Dr. Dre during his set, explaining how he has had an important impact on his career while performing What’s The Difference and Xxplosive.

After Xzibit, Ginuwine slowed everything down with his R&B vibes, passing out roses while performing hit songs such as Pony, In Those Jeans, and So Anxious. Now it was time for your headliners, starting with Ja Rule, who began his performance with high energy. The crowd roared and was trying every way to get their hands on Ja Rule as he stepped off the stage during his performance. Many guests in attendance definitely got a blast from the past as we heard many hits Ja Rule has created, featuringΒ  Always on Time, Clap Back, Holla Holla, Mesmerize, I’m Real, Put It on Me, and What’s Luv? At the end of his set, he performed I Cry, a tribute to many fallen artists Big L, PnB Rock, King Von, Biz Markie, Juice WRLD, Michael Jackson, and Prince.Β

Ja Rule

Last to hit the stage was Three 6 Mafia, who brought the rage and mosh pits. They performed some of their hit songs including Bands A Make Her Dance, 23, Poppin’ My Collar, Who Run It, Side to Side, Slob on My Knob, and Stay Fly.
