Teens Bring the Funny at TS Stand Up Comedy Fundraiser

True Star content creators (l-r) Jeremiah Griffith, Gary Langfield Jr., and Danny Wise performed their first stand up routines during True Star’s inaugural Stand Up for True Star comedy fundraiser.

True Star’s inaugural “Stand Up for True Star” comedy fundraiser was a huge success! The night of laughs took place at the Logan Center Penthouse in Hyde Park. The evening’s host was Chicago comedian Michael Issac who also served as a mentor to Gary Langfield Jr., Danny Wise, and Jeremiah Griffith — the True Star participants who tried their hand at stand up comedy for the first time.

Gary Langfield had the audience cracking up when he shared the story of his broken wrist.

The teens were hilarious! Each one told jokes based on their very relatable and funny everyday lives.

Danny “It’s Danny” Wise had people laughing out loud about school lunches.
Jeremiah Griffith’s jokes about the Red Line had the crowd in stitches.

There were also jokes from comedian Em Brown and a performance from hypnotist Chris Jones.

True Star co-founders Na-Tae’ Thompson and DeAnna M. Sherman pose with Michael Issac, Chris Jones, and Em Brown.
Thompson and Sherman share a moment with True Star board members (l-r) Corey Richardson, LaTonya Wilkens, Jerry Stoffl, and Thomas McLeary.

Don’t beat yourself up if you missed this event. We will keep you posted on when the next Stand Up For True Star comedy event will be. Until then, you can still donate to True Star at elevate.truestarfoundation.org.
