‘Tha Carter V’ Is Here & It Is Worth The Wait

According to Rolling Stone, we have been waiting on Tha Carter V for five years. Why did it take Lil Wayne so long to make an album? Let’s be real, this album is cold. We haven’t heard new music like this in a while. And it is Lil Wayne, so I honestly didn’t expect anything less of him.

Also, he did have a little bit of legal issues that just got settled recently. And those legal issues put a long time hold on this album. There are songs that started being made in 2013. It doesn’t seem like that long ago but this album is long overdue.

The album opens with a track titled “I Love You Dwayne.” A track that has a woman talking about her love for Lil Wayne, I’m assuming. Tracks like this seems to be the style now. I mostly know SZA to do this, but it’s pretty common.

Let’s talk features. Lil Wayne brought along Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Sosamann and Reginae Carter. These 23 songs are a perfect mixture of old school and new school. Not old old school but you know, some tracks that’ll definitely take you back and make you reminisce. BUT wait, there’s more: Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, Mack Main, Nivea, and XXXTENTACION. Okay, I know what you’re thinking. “Snoop Dogg? Seriously?” Actually, it’s probably one of the best songs on the album.

Although the album may be over an hour long, everything is totally worth it. I wonder if we will be getting another one, hopefully sooner than five years. I’m gonna be shook if it takes more than that. Or will Lil Wayne announce this as his last album? Nonetheless, Lil Wayne is baaaaccck!
