The Best Dressed Male and Female at the Oscars!

This past Sunday marked the debut of the 89th Academy Awards. Thousands of actors came dressed to impress as they anxiously hoping for their names to be called to the stage.

I saw a lot of beautiful gowns, but one woman’s ensemble in particular was Janelle Monae. The Hidden Figures star made an excellent first time appearance at the Oscars. Her dress was visually delicious. She stood apart from the rest of the lovely ladies in her haute couture gown that was covered in lace, feathers, sequins, beads and crystal stones. It was very unique and she looked like a princess from another galaxy. This amazing dress was made by Elie Saab…the QUEEN of Haute Couture. Elie Saab is known for her intricate designs and this dress may be the best I’ve seen so far. To complete these astonishing look she wore jeweled Jennifer Behr crown over her cute pixie cut. Seeing Janelle in this dress was a great surprise for me because I am so used to seeing her in suite and other masculine pieces. Her stylist, Maeve Reilly hit it out the ball park with this look!

Now let’s talk about the Guys! I know to some seeing suit after suit can be pretty uninteresting, but I pay attention to the tailoring of those suits. Is the jacket too tight? Are the pants too long? Did he need a belt? These are questions that I ask myself when I’m looking at these men walk the red carpet. British actor, Riz Ahmed caught my eye in his navy blue suit with a matching bow tie and black Christian Louboutin shoes. His suit was tailored to perfection! This suit is from Ermenegildo Zegna. He is responsible for providing most of the men of hollywood with their amazing suits. I also loved Riz’s look because of the color. I mainly saw guys wearing black and/or white, so it was refreshing for to see someone in something a little different.

I rep the 219, Indiana. I'm a wardrobe stylist and owner of Vintage By. B. I love shopping for pieces that are different and that I know nobody else will have! But one thing I hate about shopping is going broke doing so. Throughout the years of me working in retail, I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks for saving LOTS of money when shopping. I also go against trends by Vintage shopping. I find pieces that I can pair together to create works of art. You can call me a penny pincher, but I'll look BOMB while pinching my pennies :)
