The Indie Film That Will Dominate The Oscars

Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu from the hit movie Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Move aside Lord of the Rings, there’s a new movie powerhouse in town, and it’s not what you would expect.

Everything Everywhere All At Once came out in March 2022, and has been gaining endless amounts of prestige ever since. Following the mom of a Chinese immigrant family, the film explores her relationship with her recently out-of-the-closet daughter as they’re swept up in an intricate adventure through the multiverse.

The cast: Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, and Jamie Lee Curtis, all received Oscar nominations. On top of that, the directors, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, received the Best Director nom, and the movie as a whole was nominated for Best Picture.

In a count done by IGN, they found that the film has gotten a total 158 awards, which makes it the most awarded film to ever exist. It even tops The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, which got 101 awards.

Needless to say, the hype for this movie is huge right now, bigger than its blackhole everything bagel. Released just after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it proved that a film with an ounce of the Marvel movie’s budget could make a multiverse madder than its mid movie counterpart.

With The Oscars looming closer and closer, it feels pretty safe to say that this movie will win big. If you’re unfamiliar with Everything Everywhere All At Once, now’s your chance to get familiarized with the weird, bizarre, heartwarming, indie, cross-dimensional adventure that is that movie. If you’re watching the film and think you know what to expect, just know that you really don’t, and you’ll watch the credits through a blur of tears.

What did you think of Everything Everywhere All At Once? Do you think it’ll get snubbed at The Oscars or win what it deserves? Hit me up and let me know!

I love nerding out over Star Wars, Gravity Falls, and Lord of the Rings. I'm an introvert with a never ending appreciation for all things Sci-Fi and fantasy media.
