The New Black Panther Actually Looks Pretty Good

Ramonda, played by Angel Bassett, takes her seat at the throne in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

When Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was first announced, I didn’t expect much from it due to the extremely unfortunate death of Chadwick Boseman. Marvel had stated that they would not recast the role of Black Panther, but instead focus on Wakanda and the surrounding characters. It sounded like a lackluster Marvel movie to me, but this new teaser trailer has proven me all the way wrong because now I can’t wait until this movie hits theaters.

The trailer first shows us some returning characters who were in the first movie, with the most notable one being Ramonda, played by Angela Bassett. Ramonda, the mother of T’challa, is currently sitting on Wakanda’s throne and at this point has lost her husband, nephew, and now son. I think she will play a pivotal role in this movie, as sitting on the throne of the most advanced city on earth is a huge deal. The trailer then shows a lady giving birth while underwater to this movie’s main antagonist, Namor himself. In the comics, Namor is a mutant hybrid, with a human father and an Atlantean princess for a mother.

The trailer lets fans know that Chadwick Boseman, the original Black Panther, is remembered in this latest franchise installment.

I don’t know how comic accurate Namor’s origin is gonna be, but I got faith that we’re in for a treat with Namor being this movie’s villain. Namor’s appearance in the trailer has me excited, but he’s not my favorite character reveal. The trailer shows us a Black girl carving a literal iron heart. This is huge because it confirms that we will see Ironheart in this movie. Ironheart is going to be the next character to dawn the arc reactor. In the comics, she’s a 15-year-old genius from Chicago who builds her own Ironman suit. She has me the most excited to watch the movie, but this film has a bunch of other dope stuff going for it.

The end of the trailer shows an unknown character who has dawned the Black Panther mantle with Kendrick Lamar playing in the background. I’m not sure who’s in the suit, but hopefully the movie sets up that reveal in a satisfying way. The movie is scheduled to drop November 11th, and if the MCU is your thing then you NEED to check this one out. Until then, you can watch the trailer below.
