The Originator Of Knitwear

Knitwear has become very popular over the past two years, but like all trends they originated from somewhere. GiGi Hunter was deemed the originator of knitwear in the late 80’s and 90’s. Hunter started off as a dancer and graduated from SUNY with a bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Immediately upon graduation she went to dance for many artists such as the legendary Prince and Paula Abdul. She even graced the big screen as one of the dancers for The Wiz and we all know how amazing the dance sequences in that movie were.

While on tour Hunter ran into the amazing Jasmine Guy (Whitely Gilbert-Wayne from “A Different World”) and networked her way into the fashion industry. Guy would be the first to wear a piece from The Gigi Hunter Collection.

Later on Guy would become her first investor. Since then she has made beautiful pieces for a few more amazing Hollywood stars.

Many have recreated her looks, but there is nothing like the originator of the Gigi Hunter Collection.

I rep the 219, Indiana. I'm a wardrobe stylist and owner of Vintage By. B. I love shopping for pieces that are different and that I know nobody else will have! But one thing I hate about shopping is going broke doing so. Throughout the years of me working in retail, I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks for saving LOTS of money when shopping. I also go against trends by Vintage shopping. I find pieces that I can pair together to create works of art. You can call me a penny pincher, but I'll look BOMB while pinching my pennies :)
