Attention all juniors and seniors, college is right around the corner and now is the time to secure scholarships before it’s too late!
While most colleges and universities will give their admitted student some sort of scholarship or incentive, many of the scholarships awarded do not cover the full tuition. With the high cost of post high school education, a great way to lower cost is to apply for outside scholarships, which can be won through academic and or personal traits.
Here are some great scholarships to begin your search with.
McDonald’s Hacer National Scholarship
This scholarship is valued at $100,000 and is eligible to college bound high school seniors who are active in their community, academically successful, and at least on parents of Hispanic/Latino heritage. The deadline for this scholarship is February 6, 2025.
George M. Pullman Education Foundation Scholarship
The deadline for this scholarship is January 31, 2025 and is open to seniors who are responsible, determined, and active members of their community. This scholarship awards a student up to $10,000 for four years with support from the Pullman Foundation Staff and Scholar Community.
Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and McDonald’s will select 63 scholars to receive a scholarship up to $15,000 for the 2025-2026 academic school year ($7,500 per semester), which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees. The application closes April 25, 2025 at 11:59 pm EST (Eastern Standard Time). Visit the website for more information.
While looking into these scholarships are a great start, there are millions of other scholarships out there that you can check out. Remember that the more popular the scholarship is, the more competitive it will be. Social media pages like @scholarship.junkie, @hbcumoneyguide, and the app Scholly are all great resources to use when searching for scholarships. This can be a time consuming process, so make sure to carve out enough time to do proper research.
