The Chicago Sky recently clinched their playoffs spot knocking out the Los Angeles Sparks after along fight. The Sky defeated the Minnesota Lynx 92-87 in a hard fought battle. The Sky was connecting on the court to clinch their spot after being counted out all season. Sky payers Marina Mabrey and Kahleah Cooper were unstoppable putting up 19 points and 20 point.
Cooper stated, “You have people on the WNBA roster that are underrated and looked over and when you combine that together and people keep telling us we are gone miss the playoffs, we are dedicated to win and prove everyone wrong.”
Recently the WNBA mentioned the Sky has three players that are in the running for winning an award with Elizabeth Williams up Defensive Player of the Year, Alanna Smith up for Most Improved Player, and Dana Evans who is in the running to win Sixth Player of the Year.
Coach Emre Vatansever stated, “This is the players journey; I made it my goal when I took over the season. I knew this was gone be a hard job. To see my players make the playoffs, I’m so proud. The players have to come to practice, deal with life, and still show up on the court in the spotlight, so this is not about me but about the players.”
Let’s keep hope alive that the wins keep coming for the Sky.
