The Chicago Sky was looking to bounce back after a home opener loss but the game didn’t go in their favor. They took on the Minnesota Lynx this past Saturday and put up a hard-fought battle but unfortunately fell short.
Keep in mind itβs early in the season and the Sky team is already suffering from injuries with Rickea Jackson being out for the duration of the season due to an ACL tear. Courtney Vandersloot is out for the same reason, suffering an ACL tear last season, and Dijonai Carrington, who has a foot injury. On the bright side Azura Stevenβs made her return.
Chicago faced the Minnesota Lynx at Wintrust Arena with a tip off at 12pm. In the first quarter the Sky put up a good fight. The quarter ended 24-22 with the Lynxs being up by two. Once the second quarter hit things started to get a little sideways as Natasha Howard, who is on Minnesota, went from 4 points in the first quarter to having a near double-double in the second quarter, with 22 points and 9 rebounds.
The Sky tried to battle back in the second half, being down 5, but eventually letting Minnesota pull away again. The Lynxs went on to win it 85-75. Key players for the Chicago Sky were Skylar Diggins with 13 points 6 rebounds and 4 assist, Kamilla Cardoso with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Sydney Taylor with 11 points.
The Chicago Sky places Toronto Tempo next on May 27th at home, letβs see if they can
bounce back.
